节目于1月买进，9月首播，起初在周二晚间播出，由于收视不理想，后移档周五。最近一集收视观众只有160万，18-49岁观众中的收视率仅为0.7。
《乌托邦》跟随一组人在与世隔绝、未经开发的地点生活一年，建立自己的文明，由模式专家约翰?德?莫尔创作并执行制作，根据荷兰同名电视剧改编。约翰?德?莫尔的作品有著名的《老大哥》Big Brother、《Deal or no Deal》、《好声音》The Voice和《恐惧元素》。
